Au Sable Light Station

Au Sable Light Station is about 12 mi. w. of Grand Marais; tours begin from the Au Sable Maritime Museum, which is on Au Sable Point in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Tours of the 87-foot structure, which was built 1873-74, last 30-40 minutes. The light has been automatic since 1958.

Visitors must walk 1.5 miles on a wooded footpath from the Hurricane River Campground to reach the light station. The area includes very sandy soils, narrow sidewalks and steps to access the buildings.
