Clark Art Institute

Clark Art Institute is at 225 South St., near the Williams College campus. The renowned art institute focuses on European and American painting, sculpture, works on paper and decorative art from the Renaissance to the early 20th century. The impressive collection reflects museum founders Sterling and Francine Clark's passion for French Impressionism, boasting nearly 30 paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir as well as works by Claude Monet, Edgar Degas and Camille Pissarro. Also on display are pieces by such American artists as John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer and Frederic Remington.

The original 1955 museum building is situated on a rural 140-acre site crisscrossed by a network of interpretive walking trails. The Stone Hill Center houses two changing exhibition galleries and also showcases beautiful views of the Green Mountains.

Designed by Pritzker Prize-winner Tadao Ando, the state-of-the-art Clark Center opened in 2014 and houses visitor facilities and 11,000 square feet of special exhibition space.

A robust calendar of events—including concerts, films, lectures and family programs—is offered year-round. Hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and sledding also can be enjoyed on the grounds.
