Plymouth Rock, on Water St. in Pilgrim Memorial State Park, is said to rest on the site where the Pilgrims landed in December 1620. The rock is protected by a neoclassical granite portico erected in 1921 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Pilgrims' arrival in Plymouth. A landscaped waterfront park surrounding the portico affords scenic views of Plymouth Harbor.
