MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art)

MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) 87 Marshall St., is a 16-acre complex consisting of renovated 19th-century factory buildings showcasing the best in performing and visual arts. Changing exhibits inside the historic buildings feature a tremendous array of contemporary art, including such landmark exhibitions as an immersive retrospective of James Turrell, virtual reality installations by Laurie Anderson, Sol LeWitt wall drawings and a magisterial suite of work by Anselm Kiefer. Enormous unobstructed space allows for works not previously showcased due to such physical demands as scale or technological complexity. Buildings contain galleries (one as large as a football field), theaters and courtyards for music, dance and film presentations. Festivals are presented throughout the year.
