Government Center

Government Center is bounded by Cambridge, Court, Congress and Sudbury sts. Government Center is on the site of old Scollay Square, which was named after a prominent local real estate developer in the 1800s. Today the 60-acre urban renewal project encompasses shops; city, state and federal buildings, some of striking contemporary architecture; and a plaza where special events, including summer concerts and holiday festivities, are held.
