Discovery Station, 101 W. Washington St., features many science exhibits and interactive displays about a variety of topics, including dinosaurs, health, space exploration, weather, baseball, Moller organs, Civil War music, Japanese culture and the C&O Canal. Visitors can operate a robot at LEGO Robotics. There also is a 15-foot Titanic replica; a full-scale third-class cabin; and memorabilia depicting 1912 events, the year the ship sank. Programs with audience participation are given on Saturday. A separate gallery contains activities designed for children ages 2-5.
The area at one time was one of the nation's leaders in aircraft manufacturing; the Hagerstown Aviation exhibit on the first floor provides local aviation history through a documentary film, artifacts and memorabilia. A Cessna 150 is on display. Temporary exhibits also are offered.
