The National Great Blacks in Wax Museum, 1601 E. North Ave., is committed to the study and preservation of African American history. More than 140 life-size wax figures portray people who had significant impact on events in ancient Africa, the Middle Passage, the Civil War, Reconstruction, the Harlem Renaissance and the Civil Rights Movement. A 24-foot-by-30-foot replica of a slave ship also is featured.

Guided tours are available by reservation and require a minimum of 20 participants.
