AAA Editor Notes
Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, n. on SR 9 to 321 Port Rd., embraces more than 5,600 acres of salt marshes and upland habitat between Kittery and Cape Elizabeth and is a haven for both migratory and resident wildlife. A mile-long interpretive nature trail overlooks marshes and barrier beaches; the Carson Trail begins at the refuge headquarters, which has exhibits and brochures about wildlife. Other trails are available.

Note: Leashed pets are permitted on Carson Trail only.
