Northlake Nature Center is at 23135 US 190E, across from Fontainebleau State Park. In addition to interior exhibits, this nature center features more than 8 miles of well-marked nature trails with interpretive signs, elevated boardwalks, viewing pavilions and an active beaver pond. The terrain of the center consists of hardwood forest and marshland. The 400-acre preserve includes a canoe launch on Bayou Castine, which empties into Lake Pontchartrain.

Educational programs are offered.
