Dr. Thomas Walker State Historic Site, 5 mi. s.w. on SR 459, commemorates the man who led the first expedition through the Cumberland Gap in 1750, preceding Daniel Boone into what is now Kentucky by 17 years. Of interest is a replica of his cabin, the first house built in Kentucky, which is opened upon request.
Facilities on the 12-acre site include a playground, a miniature golf course, shelter houses and lighted basketball courts.
