University of Kansas, s. of I-70 exit 202 via US 59, is on a 1,000-acre campus atop Mount Oread, which is bisected by the Oregon Trail and overlooks the valleys of the Kansas and Wakarusa rivers. A visitor center, at the corner of 15th and Iowa streets, offers maps as well as a brochure of a walking tour covering historic buildings on campus, including the Spencer Museum of Art, Natural History Museum, the World War II memorial campanile, Pharmacy Museum, Dole Institute of Politics and the Booth Hall of Athletics museum adjacent to the Allen Fieldhouse.
