AAA Editor Notes
Union Station is at 30 W. Pershing Rd. More than 79,000 trains passed through this terminal at its peak in 1917, and half of all GIs deployed in World War II traveled under its great clock. Restored in 1999, the station is now home to Science City and hosts world-class touring exhibitions. It also includes hands-on exhibits highlighting American railroad history such as the Model Railroad Experience and KC Rail Experience. The Grand Hall features 95-foot ceilings with intricate plaster ornaments, along with two restaurants. The Theater District includes a five-story digital movie theater, live performances on City Stage and a state-of-the-art planetarium.
