Cosmosphere is at 1100 N. Plum St. The facility features the Hall of Space Museum, Carey Digital Dome Theater, Justice Planetarium, Dr. Goddard’s Lab and changing exhibitions. Highlights include the Apollo 13 command module, an outstanding exhibit of space suits and one of the largest collections of Russian space artifacts outside Moscow.
Early space exploration is detailed through exhibits about Germany’s V-1 and V-2 rockets and Russia’s Sputnik programs. U.S. space artifacts include Gemini X and a full-scale replica of the space shuttle.
Various films are shown on a 44-foot dome screen; the planetarium presents programs about stars and space. Live shows at Dr. Goddard’s Lab demonstrate the principles of rocket science. Cosmokids is an interactive play area with such activities as building a Mars habitat and building an air rocket.
Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
