City Museum

City Museum (Museo de la Ciudad) is w. of the historic center at Av. Independencia #684 (at Av. Mariano Bárcena) in an area with street parking only. It opened in 1992 to commemorate Guadalajara's 450th anniversary. The old stone convent housing the museum is a fine example of late 17th-century colonial architecture. Salas (halls) on two floors display photographs and other exhibits that present a chronological timeline of the city's history and development.
