Indiana World War Memorial

Indiana World War Memorial is between Meridian, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Vermont sts. A 100-foot obelisk rises from the center of the 5-block plaza, and a cenotaph honoring Indiana's war dead is in the north square. Outside the main shrine is the statue “Pro Patria,” one of the largest bronze castings ever made.

Inside, the Indiana War Memorial Museum includes three floors of displays. On the upper level, the Memorial Shrine Room features friezes and portraits and is surrounded by 24 red pillars symbolizing the international sacrifices made during World War I. The main floor includes a display of the names of the Hoosiers who participated in WWI and those killed or missing in action in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The Military Museum in the lower concourse pays tribute to the contributions of Hoosiers in the armed forces and includes an AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter in addition to other exhibits and memorabilia.

The four-story limestone building in the northeast corner of the plaza houses the national headquarters of the American Legion.

The memorial is wheelchair accessible; about 80 percent of the Military Museum is wheelchair accessible.
