Phillips Park

Phillips Park is 1.4 mi. e. on E. Galena Blvd., 1 mi. s. on Hill Ave., then just w. to 1000 Ray Moses Dr. With more than 325 acres, the park offers such recreational facilities as an aquatic center, bicycling and walking paths, a skate park, splash pad, dog park and a golf course. In winter ice-skating and sledding can be enjoyed. The Sunken Garden features annuals, ornamental grasses, statues and a fountain. A small zoo, World War I cannons and several veteran-related monuments also are on site.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, narrated 30-minute tram rides depart from the visitor center, where mastodon bones unearthed in the area in 1934 are displayed.
