Lake Coeur d'Alene

Lake Coeur d'Alene is s. of town. Once called one of the five most beautiful lakes in the world by National Geographic, it is surrounded by mountains and a lush forest. Twenty-five miles long, it averages 2.5 miles in width and has a 135-mile-long shoreline. It has one of the nation's largest populations of osprey, and bald eagles can be seen diving into the lake to catch salmon in winter. Power boating, sailing and fishing are popular summer sports.
