Silverwood 3 mi. s. of Athol on US 95. One of the Northwest’s largest theme parks, Silverwood covers 221 acres and offers more than 70 rides, slides, shows and attractions. Aftershock is a 191-foot-tall steel roller coaster that travels forward and backward through a cobra loop at speeds exceeding 65 mph. SpinCycle is a 104-foot-tall thrill ride that swings upside down like a giant pendulum with riders strapped into a cylinder on the other end that spins 360 degrees.
Other rides include two wooden coasters: the 55-mph Timber Terror and Tremors, which reaches speeds of 63 mph during a 103-foot drop; the 140-foot-tall Panic Plunge drop tower; the Thunder Canyon white-water ride and a 1915 steam-powered train. Garfield’s Summer Camp has 10 family-friendly rides for kids. The park also has dozens of traditional amusement rides. Entertainment includes a magic show, a staged train robbery, and appearances by Garfield and Odie.
Camping is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 6 hours minimum.
