AAA Editor Notes
Wo Hing Museum, 858 Front St., was built in the early 1900s and was the fraternal meeting hall for the Chinese Wo Hing Society. The restored temple exhibits rare Chinese artifacts and memorabilia from the turn of the 20th century, when many Chinese emigrants lived and worked in Lahaina. The only Taoist altar on Maui is upstairs; it is open during special events. The adjacent cookhouse presents films of Hawai‘i made by Thomas Edison in 1898 and 1906.
Note: Wo Hing Museum is temporarily closed due to Aug. 8 wildfire; phone ahead for updates before visiting.
