AAA Editor Notes
Callaway Plantation is 5 mi. w. on US 78 at 2160 Lexington Rd., across from the airport. This restored plantation includes an 1869 manor house, a smokehouse, a cemetery and a one-room schoolhouse. A 1785 hewn-log house, once a settler's home, has displays of domestic and agricultural implements. A two-story Federal house dating from the 1790s and an 1869 red brick Greek Revival house are both furnished in period, reflecting the increasing wealth and comfort of successive generations of a pioneer family.

Mule Day-Southern Heritage Festival is held the second Sat. in Oct.
