Bonaventure Cemetery is at 330 Bonaventure Rd. This former plantation has been a cemetery since the mid-19th century. The site, which encompasses 100 acres, overlooks the Wilmington River and has an abundance of live oak trees, some of which are 250 years old. Many of the graves incorporate beautiful statues and ornate carvings. Among the famous persons interred here are author Conrad Aiken and composer Johnny Mercer. One-hour guided walking tours are offered.
