Smithgall Woods State Park

Smithgall Woods State Park is 3 mi. w. on SR 75 Alt. to 61 Tsalaki Tr. Dukes Creek, one of the state's premier trout streams, runs through this north Georgia wilderness area. Hikers, bicyclists and nature photographers can take advantage of 5 miles of trails and 18 miles of roads that crisscross a region of hardwood habitats and mountain streams home to a variety of wildlife. Cottages are available.

Catch-and-release trout fishing is only allowed on certain days and reservations are required; visitors should call ahead for a current schedule and register at the visitor center. The center has a Discovery Room with exhibits. Ranger-led programs are offered.

Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
