City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park & Cultural Center

City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park & Cultural Center, 139 Miracle Strip Pkwy. S.E., encompasses four museums. Indian Temple Mound Museum explores 12,000 years of Native American occupation of the northwest Florida coast as well as European exploration and settlement through one of the largest collections of prehistoric ceramics in the Southeast. The temple mound, constructed around A.D. 1000, is topped with a replica temple. Camp Walton Schoolhouse and Garnier Post Office Museum depict life in the early 20th century while the Civil War Exhibit features Florida Civil War history.
