Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) is at 352 S. Nova Rd. On a 90-acre nature preserve, this Smithsonian Institution affiliate museum features a wide range of permanent and changing exhibits. Included are African, early American, European, Chinese and Cuban fine art and furniture; and a 13-foot-tall skeleton of a giant ground sloth. The museum also includes an environmental complex, nature trails, Charles and Linda Williams Children's Museum and the Lowell and Nancy Lohman Family Planetarium. Pieces once in storage, including European and American furniture, are showcased in the glass-fronted Helen B. Roberson Visible Storage Building.
The Root Family Museum pays homage to Americana with original railroad artifacts, two midcentury railcars, race cars, teddy bears, quilts and a large collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia. The Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art displays 400 pieces from its permanent collection of more than 2,600 oil and watercolor paintings depicting historic Florida and has six galleries with changing exhibits.
