Nemours Estate is at 1600 Rockland Rd. The modified Louis XVI chateau was built in 1909-10 by Alfred I. du Pont. The 47,000-square-foot mansion contains European antiques, tapestries, Oriental rugs and paintings as well as several of A.I. du Pont's innovations.
The 222-acre estate is a fine example of formal French gardens. Admission includes full access to all open areas of the estate, including Nemours Mansion, gardens, grounds and the Chauffeur's Garage. Interpretive staff enhance self-guiding tours.
Note: The self-guiding tours include several stairways.
Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
