Connecticut State Capitol

Connecticut State Capitol is off I-84 exit 48 on Capitol Ave. and Trinity St. near Bushnell Park. Made of white Connecticut marble and New England granite, the building is adorned with Gothic spires, a gold-leaf dome, medallions and bas-reliefs.
Displayed are Revolutionary War general Israel Putnam's tombstone, the figurehead of Adm. David G. Farragut's Civil War flagship Hartford and a statue of patriot Nathan Hale. Also on the grounds are the Civil War battle flags of Connecticut regiments and the “Petersburg Express,” a mortar used by the 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery.
Guided tours begin at the west entrance of the Legislative Office Building at 300 Capitol Ave.
Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
