Balcony House is in a high alcove in the west wall of Soda Canyon in Mesa Verde National Park and can be reached only by a 32-foot ladder and small 12-foot-long tunnel. Careful attention to detail and the skill necessary to construct a village in this particular alcove make Balcony House a classic example of Pueblo architecture. It can be visited only on ranger-guided trips that fill quickly in summer months.
Note: The tours can be strenuous due to the elevation, steepness and summer heat.
