AAA Editor Notes
Aztec Hall (Sala Mexica), on the ground floor of the National Museum of Anthropology in Chapultepec Park, has as its focal point the 24-ton Aztec calendar stone, the Stone of the Sun (Piedra del Sol), with the face of the sun god carved in its center. A statue of Coatlicue depicts the goddess beheaded and wearing a skirt of snakes, while a scale model of the center of pre-Hispanic Tenochtitlan includes hundreds of detailed miniatures and an accompanying mural showing the lake that once covered the area.
