Maturango Museum is at 100 E. Las Flores Ave. The museum’s exhibits describe the natural and cultural history of the upper Mojave Desert and Indian Wells Valley as well as mining activities at Searles Lake. A desert garden with metal sculptures, a labyrinth, a desert tortoise habitat, an observatory, an art gallery, a geology exhibit and a children’s discovery area with hands-on displays are among the museum’s offerings. Visitors can take a Coso Rock Art National Historic Landmark Tour emphasizing rock art, geology, local history, wildflowers, mining and natural history. The Death Valley Tourist Center and Northern Mojave Visitors Center is also within the museum.
