Sunnylands

Sunnylands, 37977 Bob Hope Dr., is the former estate of philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenberg. Per the couple's wishes, the property—with magnificent views of the San Jacinto Mountains—now hosts retreats for leaders focused on solving major global and national issues. Guests have included presidents, secretaries of state and royalty. The Sunnylands Center showcases the Annenberg family's philanthropic contributions to education and the arts; it features art from their collection and an orientation film as well as kiosks, panels and videos. A 9-acre garden with 1.25 miles of paths enhances the appeal of the grounds.

The 1966 mid-century modern estate is filled with many works of art, including pieces by Pablo Picasso and Andrew Wyeth, that they had collected. China, furniture, glass, porcelain and silver items also are on view.
