Hangtown's Gold Bug Park & Mine

Hangtown's Gold Bug Park & Mine is 1 mi. n. off the US 50 Bedford Ave. exit, within Gold Bug Park. On the east side of the Mother Lode vein, the Gold Bug mine has wood floors and a 352-foot horizontal drift. Also in the 62-acre park are Hattie's Museum, which displays mining equipment, and the Hendy Stamp Mill and Museum, which shows how gold was extracted from quartz. Visitors can take a self-guiding tour using an audio wand, go hiking and pan for gemstones.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
