Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension

Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension, 4700 Lincoln Ave., overlooks downtown Oakland and the bay. Designed in the Byzantine style, the copper-domed church houses colorful mosaics and icons of Christ and the disciples. It is crowned with a 12-foot cross set with light-catching Baccarat crystals. A 3-day Greek festival is held in mid-May.
