Moffett Field Museum is off US 101 (NASA/Moffett Field exit). Enter at the NASA main gate's far left lane and proceed via S. Akron Dr. to Severyns Ave.; the museum is on Severyns Ave. in Building 126, adjacent to Hangar One. Originally a home for Navy airships, Moffett Field was an Army Air Corps training base in 1940. Blimps returned to the base during World War II, when it became a Naval Air Station.
Exhibits include dioramas, memorabilia and airship replicas as well as artifacts pertaining to the field's history. Visitors can see Hangar One, the huge structure that housed the Navy's airships.
Note: Photo ID is required to gain access through the NASA gate.
Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
