Pygmy Forest is in Van Damme State Park; the signed park entrance is about 3 mi. s. on SR 1. The mature, cone-bearing cypress and pine trees here are decades old but only 6 inches to 8 feet tall. The stunted growth is thought to be the result of acidic soil.
