Kern Valley Museum, 49 Big Blue Rd., exhibits early Native American, gold mining, ranching, farming and lumber industry artifacts. Information about the Edison Electric Company’s development of hydroelectric plants on the Kern River 1900-10 and the many Western motion pictures filmed in the Kern River Valley in the 1930s-50s also is provided. On the grounds is a covered wagon, stamp mill, stagecoach, furnished cabin and 1925 Graham truck. A small art gallery also is featured.
