Railtown 1897 State Historic Park

Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is at 11855 5th Ave. Within the park are an interpretive center, a roundhouse, station, trains and yard facilities. Sierra Railway Co. began operating from Jamestown in 1897, carrying passengers and freight throughout the region's gold-mining area. Visitors can observe the maintenance and restoration of railroad equipment.

A video presentation and seasonal train excursions are available. Self-guiding and guided tours (when a guide is available) are offered. Steam train excursions on the historic Sierra #3 also are offered; phone ahead for information.
