North Star Mining Museum

North Star Mining Museum is on Allison Ranch Rd. at the s. end of Mill St. It houses a three-story Pelton wheel, a type of water turbine that harnessed the energy resulting from flowing water. Other exhibits include an assay room, a smithy, a stamp mill, a dynamite-packing machine and one of the country's few remaining operational Cornish pumps. A collection of gold samples also is displayed.
