AAA Editor Notes
Skunk Train departs from the Skunk Depot on Laurel St., w. off SR 1. The 7-mile, 1-hour round trip journey travels along the Pudding Creek Estuary, where sightings of egrets, blue herons and ospreys are common. The train's unusual name is derived from the smelly gas engines of the 1920s; while the vintage equipment no longer uses bad-smelling fuel, the name has continued. Christmas trains run in December; phone for details. A second Skunk Train operates from Willits.
