Western America Railroad Museum

Western America Railroad Museum is in the restored 1911 Casa Del Desierto, once a Harvey House hospitality hot spot, at 685 N. First St. Outdoor exhibits include rolling stock, locomotives, a caboose and other operating equipment. Indoor displays include smaller rail equipment such as antique hand cars, railroad signs, paintings of railroads, a large model railroad and smaller items such as record books and timetables.

The collection of date nails, nails with year dates stamped on their heads and then hammered into rail ties to keep them in place, is extensive.
