Shasta State Historic Park
AAA Editor Notes
Shasta State Historic Park is on SR 299. Formerly a robust mining town with a population of 2,500, Shasta was the gateway to a large area of riches and a rendezvous for gamblers; it is now an interesting gold rush relic. The old courthouse has been converted to a museum that contains historical exhibits as well as the Boggs Collection—100 Years of California Art. A restored barn and stagecoach can be seen. Also in the park are unrestored buildings that stand as reminders of Shasta's mining heyday.
