George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary

George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary is at 5191 Robertson Rd. on Westham Island. Nearly 300 species of birds have been observed at the refuge, which comprises 300 hectares (741 acres). This major bird-watching area offers superb observation from 7 kilometres (4 mi.) of trails bordering sloughs and ponds. Bird sightings reach their peak in November and nesting activity is in April and May.
