Greater Vancouver Zoo

Greater Vancouver Zoo is at 5048 264th St. The 49-hectare (120-acre) zoo is devoted to the preservation of endangered species. More than 600 animals represent 121 species from around the world, including hippopotami, monkeys, giraffes, cougars, coyotes, black bears, elk, reptiles, raptors, bison, tigers and a rescued grizzly bear named Shadow. A narrated miniature train ride takes passengers around the zoo's perimeter; guests can also pedal 2-seater quadra-cycles on a self-guiding tour. Interpretive talks are offered.

Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
