The Nature Conservancy’s Hassayampa River Preserve

The Nature Conservancy’s Hassayampa River Preserve is 3 mi. s.e. on US 60 near Milepost 114 at 49614 N. US 60/89. The preserve is home to 280 species of birds, including the zone-tailed hawk, the Harris hawk and the yellow-billed cuckoo. Such animals as the mule deer, bobcat, skink and ring-tailed cat also may be seen. The 4-acre spring-fed Palm Lake attracts other wildlife. The visitor center contains interactive exhibits about preserve ecology.
