Sabino Canyon is at 5900 N. Sabino Canyon Rd., 17 mi. e. via Tanque Verde and Sabino Canyon rds. Part of the Coronado National Forest, this desert oasis in the Santa Catalina Mountains offers spectacular panoramic views and a wide range of recreational activities. Visitors can hike along a network of trails; go horseback riding; take a dip in a swimming hole or waterfall; and observe javelinas, roadrunners, white-tailed deer, numerous birds and other native wildlife.
Regional Partnering Center offers narrated excursions into the canyon aboard shuttle buses. A shuttle also transports hikers to the Bear Canyon trailhead.
Note: Beware of mountain lions and rattlesnakes within the canyon. Pets are not permitted.
Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
