Ellis Bird Farm

Ellis Bird Farm, 8 km (5 mi.) e. on Hwy. 12, then 8 km (5 mi.) s. on Prentiss Rd., encourages the conservation of mountain bluebirds, purple martins and other native cavity-nesting birds. A wide variety of garden birds—including a large purple marlin colony and such species as house wrens, owls and warblers—are attracted to the vibrant grounds. A network of trails affords access to butterfly, native wildflower, hummingbird and water gardens. A visitor center featuring interpretive exhibits is on-site, as is a pier where children can try to net aquatic creatures.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
