Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure

Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure is at 7600 Glacier Hwy. A motorized shuttle takes passengers on a guided tour up Thunder Mountain through temperate botanical gardens nestled in a lush Alaskan rain forest. Guests travel past streams, ponds, waterfalls and such flora as rhododendrons, Japanese maples, ferns, and upside-down Flower Tower planters, which are inverted Sitka spruce and Western hemlock trees with various flowers planted in the root ball of the trees. A scenic overlook, 600 feet above sea level offers a spectacular view of downtown Juneau, the Taku Inlet, Douglas Island, Chilkat Mountains, the Mendenhall Valley and Mendenhall State Game refuge.
