Fairbanks Community Museum is in the Co-Op Plaza at 535 Second Ave., Suite 215. The museum features Deluge: The Flood of '67, an exhibit which relates the story of the disastrous 1967 flood that caused more than $80 million in damage to the area. Antique winter sports equipment, including a still-operable 1962 snowmobile, is displayed. Exhibits highlight the area's gold rush and dog mushing history and include a replica of a gold panner's home and such mushing equipment as vintage dog sleds.
