Lower Dauphin Street Commercial Historic District

Lower Dauphin Street Commercial Historic District, Dauphin St. between Water and Broad sts., is the only predominantly 19th-century commercial district in Mobile. It is characterized by a high concentration of closely spaced, two- and three-story brick structures built in the Art Deco, Classical Revival, Federal and Italianate styles. The district's eastern end features early skyscrapers and buildings dating from the 1920s and '30s. It serves as the entertainment, legal and financial center of Mobile.
