Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo

Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, 20499 Oak Rd. E., is the residence of some 300 animals, including lions, Bengal tigers, primates, leopards, red kangaroos and American black bears. A petting zoo, reptile house and aviary are on the grounds. Seasonal animal encounters are offered as well as educational animal shows. The zoo was the subject of the Animal Planet show, “The Little Zoo that Could,” which focused on its struggle to rebuild after it was struck by numerous hurricanes in 2004.
