Hato Caves

Hato Caves is .5 mi. (.8 km) n. of the Hato Airport on F. D. Rooseveltweg. Historical guided tours take visitors into 6 limestone chambers that were formed below sea level millions of years ago. A sloping trail leads past unusual formations, pools (not for swimming) and a waterfall. Caquetio Indian carvings are visible on the outer walls. A colony of fruit-eating bats lives inside the cave, and copious numbers of iguanas roam the surrounding park.
